Book IPL tickets 2021 online here. The beginning of the new IPL season is a month away, and the excitement behind the tournament is beginning to build. The BCCI has now confirmed that the competition will start on April 9th, and the final will be held on May 30th. The first half of the tournament will be held in Chennai and Mumbai before moving on to Delhi and Ahmedabad and then finally to Bengaluru and Kolkata. The competition will return to Ahmedabad for the playoffs and the final. This year’s tickets are available on BookMyShow, Insider.in, TicketGenie, EventsNow and Paytm.
As per BCCI’s announcement, fans won’t be allowed in the stadiums for the first phase of IPL 2021 and matches will be played behind closed doors. Based on the COVID situation, BCCI will take a call if spectators will be allowed to watch the games and the IPL 2021 tickets availability will be announced accordingly.
The idea is that all games will be held at neutral venues, and teams will play at four of the six stadiums to help stop too much movement and therefore support the Covid-19 crisis. The tournament will begin behind closed doors. The BCCI will closely monitor the situation as the competition progresses to see whether they will allow supporters into the stadiums towards the middle to end of the season.
Tournament officials have also included 11 doubleheaders this season to help reduce travel. There is no doubt that the tournament’s opening game between RCB & MI will be the highlight of the opening round of fixtures for most as it brings the two tournament favourites together. However, each game possesses its own questions, like will Chennai bounce back, or will Delhi progress from last season? Can Eoin Morgan bring together the Knight Riders to form a cohesive unit against the team that has made the least number of changes from last season? Who will win the battle of the basement boys as the Royals take on the Kings? No matter what the answer to these questions is, the most rhetorical question you can ask is will these games bring the same drama as the year’s gone by, and we all know the answer to that!
The biggest thing to come out of last year’s tournament was the fact that the Mumbai Indians are miles ahead of the competition right now, and the other seven franchises have a long way to go to catch them. Mumbai Indians opted for continuity as they used only 15 players this season, the least number of players used in the league, and this was undoubtedly a tactic that worked. As others chopped and change regularly, looking for that right combination, Mumbai stuck to their funds, and the plan worked.

Despite Mumbai’s dominance, it was a tightly contested season as only two points separated third place from the bottom of the table. The tournament also highlighted the fact that the Chennai Super Kings need a change. Their ageing team needs to take a turn in a new direction, and this is something that the Chennai selectors will be taking into account come the IPL auction.
KL Rahul was the leading run-scorer by some margin scoring a mighty impressive 670 runs. In the bowling department, it was thought that the leading wicket-takers would be spinners, given the tournaments change of venue, but this wasn’t the case as the top four leading wickets takers were all fast bowlers. The leading wicket-taker was Kagiso Rabada, closely followed by Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. Jofra Archer was the MVP for IPL 2020, which was the first time a player playing for the team finishing bottom of the standings has won the prestigious award. It was undoubtedly a tournament dominated by the bowlers; for instance, the Kings XI had a batting line up that would match anyone with Rahul, Agarwal, Gayle, and Pooran, but without a decent bowling attack, they faltered. The four best performing bowling teams occupied the top four places in the league.
As per usual, the tournament unearthed some young Indian talent in Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Devdutt Padikkal, who all finished amongst the top ten run-scorers. The young Indian bowlers were not to be outdone either, as both Varun Chakravarthy and Natarajan were among the leading wicket-takers.
There were rumours that the league would add two new franchises this season, but those plans have been put on hold until IPL 2022. However, there are plans to increase the quota of overseas players from four to five. This will give teams more flexibility if there are any travel restrictions in place when the tournament starts.
Either way, this year’s tournament has many different permutations like years gone by and will shed some light on these current darker days we currently find ourselves in. Please pay is a visit again soon to get the latest updates surrounding which players have been retained by each franchise, as we will then be able to analyse each team to get some indication of the strategy they intend to take this year.
