IPL Match Schedule 2020 Time Table

IPL time table 2020 is placed here. With the exciting and a thrill-a-minute 2019 Indian Premier League behind us now, we look at the schedule for the 2020 edition of the IPL that will be played next year in India. The forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League will be the 13th ever with ten teams featuring in the competition that will be played in 2020. While it is too early to be talking of the schedule and dates for the 2020 IPL, what is interesting to note is a few things. One, the tournament could well be played in the April-May window after having been advanced to March-April-May in the previous season. This was done because 2019 was a World Cup year and now the schedule can go back to what it was before that.

Also, there are talks of two extra teams to be added for the 2020 edition of the competition. Now this will stir up the plot a bit.

Because if there are 10 teams in the tournament, the number of matches will also go up but it remains to be seen by how many games. The IPL had increased the number of teams to 10 for one season but the matches weren’t increased to 90 during the regular season – i.e. not every side played every side during the tournament. Instead, each of the teams played some teams twice and some other teams just one time.

If they do go ahead with the 10-team competition and a format that is similar to the previous time they had 10 teams, then the IPL schedule will have about 70 odd games in the league stage of the tournament.

Whatever is the case, the league stage of the IPL will be followed by the playoffs, which, like the previous seasons will allow the teams finishing top two a better chance of making the final than the others qualifying. It would be interesting to see if they allow just four teams through to the playoffs or if there’s an extra team that makes up that lineup.
