Nidahas Trophy 2018 Schedule, Broadcast Rights, Tickets

The Nidhas Trophy is fast approaching, and we have seen a very interesting squad selection from the Indian team. They will head to Sri Lanka for the tournament that puts them up against the hosts and Bangladesh in a tri series, where each team will play four games, before the two leaders will meet in the final. This promises to be a very good tournament, and celebrates the 70th year of independence in Sri Lanka, so expect a great show put on by the hosts, and a real celebration. The Nidahas Trophy tickets will be available on Bookmyshow.

Going into the tournament, India would be considered the favourites to win, despite playing away from home and Sri Lanka having that advantage. However, the tournament looks like it will be a hugely competitive event, with all three teams in with a chance of winning due to India resting some of their star names.

The focus right now is on those who are missing the tournament, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Harkid Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah. However, when we get to the games, the focus will quickly move to those that have taken their places, and if they can show that performing at the highest level is something they can do. While the squad selection has hit the headlines, and many are surprised, this is a great opportunity for some of the younger players coming in to show that they can play a part in the future of Indian cricket.

Each game in the tournament will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium, and they will all take place under the lights, with a start time of 7pm local time. With the same pitch, and the same start times for each game, this should ensure that each team knows and understands the conditions exactly the same, which should lead to a very good contest.

The opening game on March 6 will feature the hosts Sri Lanka and India, while Bangladesh will open their tournament two days later when they face India. The Indians have decided to go into the tournament without a warm up game, and it will be interesting to see how they get on due to this, while Bangladesh will play a warm up game after they arrive in Sri Lanka on March 4.

The last time we saw the Nidhas Trophy was back in 1998, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of independence. That time it was New Zealand who joined Sri Lanka and India, with the Indians eventually coming out on top in a thrilling final against Sri Lanka. They will be hoping for more of the same again, and despite missing a few star names, they look the likeliest winners, with a lot of younger players heading to Sri Lanka with something to prove.

This should be a great tournament celebrating life in Sri Lanka, but it is the Indian team that looks to have the edge in this one.
