KXIP player list is placed here. The Kings XI Punjab has had some really underwhelming performances in the IPL so far. Post Ashwin’s departure from the team, KL Rahul will lead the side from next season who in recent times has done well with the bat but generally struggled to make it to the Indian team. Kings XI Punjab will welcome back Glenn Maxwell in their squad after the Aussie all-rounder was brought back for one of the highest prices during the IPL Auction. However, Maxwell will miss the initial few games of the tournament due to an elbow injury. The other player who won’t be available for the initial few games is Jimmy Neesham as he will be playing for the national side against Australia in a limited-overs series that will end on March 29th.

Maxwell will get INR 10.75 crore for his efforts in the Punjab side, and what they would hope is for the Aussie to recapture some of the better form he has shown in the past. With Punjab not having won a single IPL title, he could well be in with a chance to guide them to the kind of effort Chris Gayle had for the RCB in his early years.

Punjab also spent a substantial INR 3 crore for fast bowler and gun fielder Chris Jordan, up four times from his base price. Another overseas all-rounder James Neesham made it to the squad at his INR 50 lakhs base price, along with Indians Deepak Hooda and Tajinder Dhillon.

Not surprisingly, the toast of the present, fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell was also brought in for a whopping INR 8.5 crore, along with Ravi Bishnoi for INR 2 crore. 19-year-old Bishnoi has picked up six wickets in T20 cricket at 23 with an economy rate of 6.6 RPO.

Rahul aside, the Kings XI Punjab squad also has Mohammad Shami who bowled well in patches. What they definitely need is someone to bind them together, and a string of performances from their younger, domestic players. Ishan Porel, Prabhsimran Singh and Tajinder Dhillon are the others to have made it to the squad through the auction.

What works for the Punjab side is they have picked a good number of youngsters from the 2018 auction and if they can oversee their development, even outside of the IPL, then it might make it easier for them to build for the future. How much in future is the question?

Chris Gayle will continue to remain a key to his side’s fortunes as he winds down on his career. He smashed 490 runs in the last season at an average of 40.83, which is at par with his career IPL average of 41. Gayle also scored his runs at a strike-rate of 153, which is one of the best in the business. Kings XI Punjab roster 2020 is placed below.
