IPL 2019 set to start on March 29th with the final concluding on May 19th. Even though there is still a long time to go for it, let us take a look at how this season unfolded.
It won’t be long until we are on the countdown to the 2019 edition of the IPL. This will be the 12th time this great T20 competition will take place and over the years we have seen some memorable moments, involving some of the very best cricketers in the world. There are eight teams involved in the 2018 edition, each of them representing a city in India and going head to head against each other.
The IPL have moved quickly to announce the 2019 IPL schedule after the World Cup schedule was released. The tournaments will run back to back giving fans a feast of cricket and something to look forward to between the months of March and July in 2019. The IPL season will begin on March 29, and the final will take place on May 19. The match timings have also been set and the games will take place at 4 pm and 8 pm. That will then be followed by the cricket World Cup, which takes place between May 30 and July 14.
It was important that this was decided and agreed upon before the World Cup schedule was released to ensure India had a 15 day break between the IPL and their first World Cup game. This is now the case, and India will begin their World Cup campaign on June 5 against South Africa.
With the World Cup to consider the IPL schedule has been released much earlier than normal, but it gives fans something to look forward to in 2019. While it is expected that the fixtures will be released in due course, when they are normally released, at least fans know the dates when the competition will take place, and they can begin to make early plans.
Cricket lovers are going to have a great time in 2019, with back to back competitions putting together the very best players in the world. Starting with the IPL between March and May we will see the big hitting T20 format take centre stage, before the 50 over format takes over at the end of May until July with the World Cup taking place.
The tournament takes place in the months of April and May, something that has been confirmed for the 2019 season. This is the traditional slot and many other leagues work their schedule around the IPL so players can play in multiple leagues throughout the season. The game order and dates are chosen by the BCCI, which is the main organiser of the IPL, and these have now been released to the public. The teams will play each other twice, with one game being at home and one away from home.
There are eight teams competing in the IPL in 2018. They are the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings X1 Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderbad, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The last two teams return after a two year break due to their suspension from the IPL and it will be great to see them back competing.
