What Happened Last Season?
Mumbai Indians won the IPL for a record fourth time after beating Chennai Super Kings in a pulsating final that went as close as it could. In fact it was for the second time that the Mumbai Indians had won the IPL final by a wafer-thin one-run margin.
At the end of the league stage of the IPL, the Mumbai Indians finished at the top of the points table with 18 points from 14 games – this was the same as the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals – but pipping two other teams on net run-rate. Sunrisers Hyderabad were the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs after finishing on the same number of points with Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab. Again, their NRR helped them out.
In the first playoffs game, the first Qualifier, Mumbai Indians restricted Chennai to 131/4 from their 20 overs before cruising through to that target in a mere 18.3 overs to make it to the final. Delhi Capitals chased down 162 made by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, with Prithvi Shaw’s 56 coming handy.
Then, it was the turn of the Super Kings to break into no sweat getting the better of the Capitals in the second Qualifier, beating them by six wickets and with an over to spare. Shane Watson scored a half century to guide them to the win.
Mumbai were restricted to 149 in the final and despite Watson’s 59-ball 80, Chennai failed to chase that down, losing by a single run. The latest IPL ank talika 2020 is placed above.
