IPL 11 Team Standings – VIVO IPL Point Table 2018
IPL 2018 points table updated is placed here match by match. The 2018 IPL season is almost over, and the regular season IPL points table has now been confirmed. The Sunrisers Hyderabad ended as the top team, and will take that momentum and honour on with them in the hope of lifting the IPL title.
The Delhi Daredevils were the team to finish bottom in 2018 and they have 12 months to figure out what went wrong and how to solve it. They lacked quality and were simply not good enough in many of their games, and their fans will be hoping to see more when we return in 2019. Ahead of the Daredevils we had the Kings XI Punjab, who looked fantastic early in the tournament before finishing dreadfully and dropping down the standings.
For a team that looked to have a qualification chance half way through the season, they had a terrible ending and will want to find out why that happened. That may mean big personnel changes for the Kings XI before the 2019 season, something we will update you on when we get further information.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians finished in 5th and 6th position, just missing out on qualification to the playoffs in what was a very tight final league table. Both teams lost on the final day of the season and a won would have given them hope, but it wasn’t to be for them. The Indians came into this season as defending champions, but a poor start to their campaign cost them a lot of ground. They tried to fight back but ultimately were not good enough this season.
In fourth position and the final team to qualify for the playoffs was the Rajasthan Royals, who got in thanks to a final day victory. The Royals struggled for consistency all season, but found a way to pick up valuable wins when they needed it the most. They ended the regular season with four wins out of their last five games, a run that helped them qualify.
In third place we have the Kolkata Knight Riders, a team who had been performing well all season. However, on top of that just like the Royals they found a way to win when they needed it the most, winning their final three games to prevent anyone from catching them. This was a solid season for the Knight Riders, and they can be happy with their performance.
Coming back from their suspension, the Chennai Super Kings had outlined a plan to win the IPL and they have performed fantastically in the regular season to finish in second place. They came close to winning the regular season title, and only their run rate prevented them from the top spot in a season they will never forget and one that they will hope to build on.
Landing top spot in the IPL regular season was the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and that was despite losing their final three games. Whatever the reason for that, it made things tighter than they needed to be, but that still doesn’t stop the fact they played some fantastic cricket all season and deserve their victory.
