IPL 10 Team Standings – Latest IPL Point Table

IPL 2017 points table updated is placed here match by match. The 2016 year marked a great season for the Indian Premier League, which saw far too many records being made and some of the most unexpected wins. Let us take a look at how last year’s IPL points table turned out.

Considering the bottom half first, Kings XI Punjab once again finished at the eighth place with eight points. With just four wins in their campaign, the Kings XI are in dire need of a major revamp to their squad. Despite the shift in the captaincy as a last resort, it didn’t work well for them as they lost their last three matches.

Next in the line are Rising Pune Supergiants, who were one of the two new entrants this season. The lads from Pune had a pretty good squad on paper, before they lost some of their key performers to injuries. Combining this with a lack of momentum, it wasn’t surprising to see them finish at the seventh place in the table, with five wins. The injury of their three overseas players along with a poor form of the other players made things only worse of them.

Next up are Delhi Daredevils, who finished sixth with 14 points from seven games. At one point in the league, Delhi Daredevils looked strong enough to reach the final four, but had to settle at the sixth place, following a shaky form towards the end. A similar feat was achieved by the Mumbai Indians too, who finished fifth owing to slightly superior net run rate.

Moving to the upper half of the table, Kolkata Knight Riders qualified for the playoffs by the skin of their teeth. Reaching the fourth place, they lost in the playoffs. Finishing at the third place were Sunrisers Hyderabad, who could have finished at the top had it not been for their two back to back defeats in final moments of group stage. David Warner’s role as a captain, and VVS Laxman’s mentoring definitely are the reasons for their brilliant performance.

Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the second place and were the eventual runners – up, a feat that produced by winning their four group matches back to back and winning the Qualifier 1. won the hearts of all, as they made their way from seventh place to the second. With just one defeat in last six games, Virat Kohli led his team through to the playoffs and finals.

Finally, there’s Gujarat Lions, who finished at the top and had two chances thereafter to reach the final. But as it turns out, they succumbed to pressure. While this season, the IPL points table has been a ride full of ups and downs, one can only anticipate how it will be in the next season. The VIVO IPL points table is placed below.
