IPL 11 Team Standings – VIVO IPL Point Table 2018
IPL 2018 points table updated is placed here match by match. The 2017 IPL season was thrilling, with the Mumbai Indians eventually winning the title in great fashion. They dominated the season from start to finish, and will be looking to do the same in 2018, although with two teams returning to the league in 2018 it is going to be even tougher for them.
The Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions both played in their final season in the IPL, with the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals returning after suspension. The Supergiants came second in their final season after some great performances, while Gujarat came a disappointing 7th.
Looking at the bottom of the table first and it was a season to forget for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They won just three games in the competition, despite Virat Kohli leading them into battle. He is a special player, but even his talent was not enough to save his team from a poor season.
The Delhi Daredevils came close to reaching the playoffs but ultimately just missed out. They had six victories during the season, and despite coming 6th they did little wrong. Angelo Matthews and Kagiso Rabada led them well, though neither have been retained for the 2018 season.
The Kings XI Punjab also missed out on the playoffs, losing out by one defeat and finished the campaign with an even seven wins and seven losses. They did well under a small budget and tight circumstances, and they will be looking to overachieve again to reach the 5th position they did last season.
The Kolkata Knight Riders came 4th in the league table, and eventually finished 3rd after the playoffs. They had a good campaign, and came one victory away from making the final. With eight wins in the league they had a solid year, and will be hoping for more of the same in 2018.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad finished just ahead of the Knight Riders in 3rd place, but came 4th after the playoffs. They too had a good season, with eight wins and they also had both the top scoring batsman and top wicket taking bowler on their team. Those awards went to David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and the Sunrisers will be hoping to get the same again from them in 2018.
Finally we are onto the Mumbai Indians, who won the 2017 IPL with a final win over the Rising Pune Supergiant. In the league, they had ten victories from 14 games, under great leadership from captain Rohit Sharma. The 2017 IPL was thrilling, let’s hope for more of the same in 2018.
