IPL 2017 Final RPS vs MI – Mumbai won by 1 run
Mumbai Indians will look to make it their third title when they take on the first-time finalists Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL 2017 final. The game will be played in Hyderabad on Sunday, May 21.
It has been an interesting road to the final for these two sides but it would only be fair to say that both teams have deserved their place in the title-decider. On the one hand is the Mumbai Indians side which made the playoffs by finishing first in the points table, while on the other, Pune recovered from a slow start to occupy the second spot on that very table.
During the playoffs, Pune beat Mumbai for the third time in the season before Mumbai over the Kolkata Knight Riders in the second Qualifier to make it to the final.
The big question for the Mumbai Indians is whether they can overturn this poor form against the Rising Pune Supergiant and become the first team in the history of the IPL to win their third title.
Mumbai Indians v Rising Pune Supergiant Squads
Mumbai Indians Playing XI: Rohit Sharma, Lendl Simmons, Parthiv Patel, Ambati Rayudu, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Karn Sharma, Mitchell Johnson, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah
Rising Pune Supergiant Playing XI: Steven Smith, MS Dhoni, Manoj Tiwary, Ajinkya Rahane, Daniel Christian, Jaydev Unadkat, Adam Zampa, Shardul Thakur, Rahul Tripathi, Lockie Ferguson, Washington Sundar
Interestingly, Mumbai’s campaign to the final has been based on a concerted team effort. They have a bowling attack that has regularly delivered as a team while their batsmen have chipped in at different times in the tournament despite Rohit Sharma’s obvious struggles with the bat. Mitchell McClenaghan and Jasprit Bumrah have been the standout bowlers for them.
Pune’s reliance on Ben Stokes and Imran Tahir took them to the final but the emergence of Jaidev Unadkat as a reliable end overs bowler has helped them greatly. MS Dhoni’s smashing knock in the previous Qualifier should give the team confidence of going into the game with the same XI, which means that Lockie Ferguson will make the playing 11.
Key Pune players to watch out for: Steve Smith, Rahul Tripathi, MS Dhoni, Manoj Tiwary, Jaydev Unadkat

RPS vs MI Prediction IPL 2017 Final
While the Rising Pune Supergiant have a 3-0 record against the Mumbai Indians this season, the Mumbai Indians will still be slight favourites going into the grand finale. For Pune, Steven Smith will be favourite to top-score for them while the Mumbai Indians could bank on Kieron Pollard to give them the edge at the death with his power-hitting.
As far as their bowling is concerned, the Mumbai Indians could have Karn Sharma surprising the Supergiant while Pune will be dependent on Adam Zampa.
