Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) Team Squad IPL 2011 Players List

Kings XI Punjab Team Squad/Players for IPL 5 is placed here. Owned by the glamorous Bollywood actor Preity Zinta, Kings XI Punjab is captained by Adam Gilchrist. This team’s performance has been pretty average but with the new line up of international and domestic players it might as well stun the audience with some solid action.

Kings XI Punjab participated in the IPL 5 auctions actively and the team added James Faulkner, Australian speedster in their first buy. To further bolster their bowling they have added Pakistan veteran all-rounder (batter and spin bowler) Azhar Mahmood and Indian off spinner Ramesh Powar, too old fashioned thinking if I am right. New buys aside team has also extended the contract of South African batsman David Miller.

KXIP Players to Watch out for

Shaun Marsh, Stuart Broad, David Hussey and Praveen Kumar will be partnering with the new comers to their team which includes Ramesh Powar and James Faulkner. While Ramesh was bought in the second trial, Faulkner was roped in during the third round. The only player from Pakistan to be included in the team is Azhar Mahmood.

Azhar Mahmood and Ramesh Powar could be decent buys. Experience of these two players could bring lot of change in the team and the team should look up to the experience of Azhar Mahmood during pressure situations.

Team’s strengths and weaknesses

Azhar, James and Ramesh further strengthen their equation with regard to all aspects of the game, be it batting, bowling or fielding. The Australian T20 specialist James Faulkner should also be able to add batting strength to the team along with fellow countryman and captain Adam Gilchrist who single-handedly adds quality to the entire unit. But all that said, I don’t see much difference in the chances KXIP stand at the moment, sorry to be sounding negative, but the team never looked balanced and they are too conservative when it comes to investing in players. They settled for bargain buys, which kind of reflects in the way the team played for the last four IPL seasons.
