But the biggest gain for Daredevils is the addition of English star Kevin Pietersen who has been transferred from Deccan Chargers. Pietersen has looked in rich form following his impressive performances against Pakistan in UAE.
The team will be captained by Virender Sehwag while Jayawardene has been appointed the vice-captain. There is plenty of depth in batting with Colin Ingram and Travis Birt boasting of a successful track record in the shortest format of the game. David Warner at the top of the order lends further aggressive options. The youthful signings include Manprit Juneja, who scored a double-century on first class debut, and Pawan Negi who is touted as an upcoming all-rounder.
The team will be expecting plenty of good results from Irfan Pathan as well who has a salary of $1.9 million. Roelof van der Merwe is yet another handy option for the all-rounders slot. The bowling will largely depend on Morne Morkel and local boys Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron.
Under the coaching of former South African coach Eric Simons, the Daredevils have the capacity to perform better and would be eying one of the four slots to reach the semi-finals.
